Sarah is a myotherapist in Melbourne whoholds an Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy which she completed at RMIT University. Sarah sees myotherapy as a rewarding vocation, as she is able to apply her theoretical and practical skills to a case, share her knowledge with patients and see positive outcomes from her treatments.
Sarah has treated alongside The Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, the National Institute of Circus Arts, The Australian College of Basketball and the Australian Football League Academy. Sarah’s practical modalities include a variety of soft tissue techniques, myofascial dry needling, muscle energy technique, trigger point therapy, myofascial cupping, thermal therapies, postural taping, joint mobilisation, corrective and rehabilitation exercises, pain management techniques and manual lymphatic drainage. She is continually honing her abilities to improve her treatment of the various musculoskeletal pathologies with which she is presented.
Sarah’s patients come from all walks of life from office workers to athletes. She treats disorders such as general muscle soreness, articular pain, postural induced pain, nerve pain, tendinopathies, sports injuries and headaches. Sarah finds it stimulating to be able to educate her patients about how to care for their bodies. She particularly enjoys explaining the concept of elongating short and contracted skeletal muscle and fascia in conjunction with joint mobilisation, facilitation and strength training in order to eradicate dysfunction from various muscle groups. She stresses the importance of corrective and rehabilitation exercises for her patients to complete outside the clinic, thus they are able to recover as quickly as possible and have the tools and knowledge to manage their pain.
Sarah has a strong background in theatrical and classical dance and many other sporting fields such as tennis, athletics and horse riding. Her experiences have enhanced her ability to benefit her patients at Physio On Collins. Sarah ensures she is in tune with her patient’s goals and sees that every one of them leave the clinic with a well thought out preventative management plan, to return to function as one cohesive unit.
